SpecialSTAR
Who are we?
SpecialSTAR is a non-profit organization aimed towards providing kids with special needs opportunities to engage in activities of science, technology, art, and robotics in an environment suited for them, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills through fun learning experiences and a welcoming environment.
We also have goals to raise awareness about mental health in our community, uplift those who are vulnerable, and connect with alternative resources to help those who are struggling. Check out our Healthy Mind Initiative.
Mission Statement
SpecialSTAR's mission is to provide kids with special needs an opportunity to engage in STEM activities in an environmented dedicated to them. At SpecialSTAR, we understand the difficulties such kids may encounter when learning alongside others who don't understand them, and we hope to give kids the chance to have the same experiences as others without worrying about being judged or left behind.
Programs
We offer enrichment programs focus on STEM and Art learning through hands-on projects. Each session consist of a series of weekly sessions that normally last one to two hours in a local library. It is FREE. All materials are provided. Students are guided by our experienced instructor and assistants through project completion. Our program promotes small group learning, with fun take-home projects
